Welcome to Sweet

Sweet, a lesbian travel company focusing on having a great time while doing good in the world.

Dear friends,
It’s with great gobs of glee that I introduce you to Sweet, a lesbian travel company with a twist. Merging the best of lesbian travel with social and environmental awareness, Sweet aims to make the world a better place while having a blast in it.

In November 2009, we’re embarking on the largest lesbian cruise ever aboard the dazzling, 1,970-passenger Norwegian Spirit. Departing for our seven-day voyage from New Orleans gives us the opportunity to pitch in with the post-Katrina relief effort by day and party on Bourbon Street by night. It’s the perfect demonstration of Sweet’s commitment to doing good and having fun.

From New Orleans, we sail to gorgeous Costa Maya, Mexico, fabulous Belize City, Belize, scuba and snorkeling wonderland Roatan, Honduras, and stunning Cozumel, Mexico.

For your entertainment, we’re bringing comedians Suzanne Westenhoefer and Erin Foley as well as musicians Edie Carey and Jen Foster. We’ll host off-the-hook tea dances, theme parties and events. The Norwegian Spirit offers Freestyle dining anytime at your choice of 11 restaurants. The ship boasts eight nightclubs and bars, including a huge casino.

You’ll find sweetness in everything we do. Our all-in-one pricing means the price we advertise is the price you pay — no surprise fees, no fine print. Our first Sweet cruise starts at $1,099 per person based on double occupancy for an inside stateroom. That includes all your food, lodging and on-board entertainment for the week. We’ll even add a third or fourth person in your room for $399 each. To make your vacation as affordable as possible, Sweet offers a no interest, no fees, no fooling monthly payment plan.

And how does guilt-free sound? We’re offsetting all the carbon emissions from our cruise and air travel, in addition to running our business and marketing efforts in as green and environmentally responsible a manner as possible. Now that’s Sweet.

Sweet is for women who want to do it all on their vacations and in their lives. It’s for women who work hard and play hard, women with big hearts and big dreams.

Please sign up for our email list, tell us how you’re Sweet and send us your ideas for making life sweeter for all of us.

Stay Sweet,

Can you elaborate on how you are offsetting all the carbon emissions from your cruise and air travel, in addition to running our business and marketing efforts in as green and environmentally responsible a manner as possible? I would like to know more.

Hi Sandy,
Thank you for asking. First and foremost, we are going to offset all the carbon from our air and sea travel using a partner who purchases an equivalent amount of clean energy (wind and solar), so our net impact on global warming is zero. We have not yet chosen that partner, but we’ll do that in the next few weeks and post it on the site. To learn more about offsetting carbon, visit http://www.carbonfund.org.

Additionally, we are working to make as much of our marketing efforts paperless as possible. We’re going to rely on the web and email to get the word out. In the office, we’re working to minimize the amount of paper we use as well as use the paper we do use twice. Oh and we recycle everything, in addition to trying to purchase things made of recycled content, previously owned things and things with a minimum of packaging.

We’re also looking for eco-friendly vendors for our giveaways. Our business cards are printed on recycled paper and cotton. The paper was produced using wind energy and the ink is soy. Our T-shirts are organic, fair-trade cotton and the printing was done without PVC, chemicals or toxins in a water-based process.

On our vacations and while promoting our vacations, we’re going to be doing a number of green projects, like beach clean ups or planting trees or helping wildlife. We want to leave the places we visit better than we found them.

If you have any ideas about what we can do to be more green, I’d love to hear them.

Thank you again for your question.

Stay Sweet,
Shannon

Hi Shannon
I may have waited too long to sign up for a cruise.
I’m now Vegan, don’t drink alcohol, don’t smoke and I’ll be 60 in September. After a 16 year relationship, I’ve been single for 8 years. I’ve heard not being in a relationship makes cruising a real lonely experience.
Lynn

Hi Lynn,
It’s never too late to have fun! We’ve got lots of singles on board and fun activities to help you get to know each other. We also offer support for non-drinkers and restrict smoking to outdoor areas, so you won’t be bothered. With 11 restaurants, you’ll be able to eat to your vegan heart’s delight.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Stay Sweet,
Shannon

Can you tell more about the Norwegian Spirit? I have cruised once before, the Inland Straight of Alaskan coast. The ship was the Navigator.

Mary

Hi Mary,

I just returned from sailing on the Norwegian Spirit a few weeks ago and it is fabulous. You couldn’t ask for anything more. The ship holds 2000 passengers and offers a variety of rooms ranging from inside staterooms to penthouse suites. The service and food onboard was top notch including several different restaurants for your dining pleasure. There is also many different entertainment options such as several bars, lounges, pools, hot tubs, game rooms, spa, casino, gym and much much more. Please give me a call if you would like more details. I would be more then happy to provide you with all the information you need regarding the ship. You can reach me at 877.793.3830 .

Thanks and stay Sweet!

I’m just curious how healthy the food is, I know on other cruises there’s all kinds of food.. I guess I’m wondering about chemicals and preservatives.
