If you only have 1 day I suggest a trip to the Mayan temples of Tikal in Guatemala or a visit to the Cayo District on Belize's mainland...to a site called ATM. All the tour providers know what this is. ATM is an ancient Mayan ritual site that includes a hike, short swim and cave exploring complete with relics, ceremonial items and human skeletons (no joke).
