Hi ya, karate chop! Team Sweet’s 22 wonderful walkers joined 25,000 others who braved a misty, early Sunday morning in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park to fight HIV / AIDS. Team Sweet raised $12,835 to fund programs that support people living with HIV / AIDS. Our tiny but mighty team was No. 59 in overall fundraising (ahead of Jamba Juice and Xerox). Hooray.
The AIDS WALK raised $4.65 million for the life-saving programs run by the San Francisco AIDS Foundation.
Merci mille fois to Sweet founder Jen Rainin, who organized and energized the team. Thank you to all our walkers, especially to my mom who introduced me to the AIDS WALK 16 years ago.
It was beyond words to spend time with all of you. Thank you for sharing your hearts, minds and feet. And to our supporters, y’all rock hella hard. If anyone would like to donate, click here. Mega kudos to the AIDS Walk organizers who offered paperless registration, recycling and composting at the event.
Until there’s a cure,
Shannon
p.s. Thank you to Jose for taking this picture (he’s walker No. 22 for those of you keeping score at home).
