jill bennett Jill Bennett

Jill Bennett knew she was a lesbian at age 13, when her friend Heather squeezed her leg in the basement while watching a horror movie. Making her way as an out actress in today’s world didn’t prove to be quite so easy, costing her some opportunities and perhaps more mainstream success, but she’s got no regrets.

These days, she’s got her integrity to keep her warm plus plenty of acting gigs.

Jill can currently be seen in Here TV’s supernatural soap “Dante’s Cove,” scheduled to return for a fourth season this fall, and in the award winning hit webseries “3Way.” You can also find her in the new season of Logo’s animated show “Rick and Steve,” and in a memorable cameo in the festival favorite short “Tranny McGuyver.” Other TV appearances including recurring roles on the original “Beverly Hills 90210,” Steven Spielberg’s “The Others” and the CW sitcom “Zoe …”

She has three films recently released on DVD: X’s and O’s, “Shattered” and “Out at the Wedding.” Other recent films include “Expiration Date” and “The Pleasure Drivers.” Scheduled to premiere at San Francisco’s Frameline Film Festival in June, her newest feature “And Then Came Lola” is sweeping into every LGBT film festival of note.

Early this spring, Jill co-executive produced and starred in the webseries “We Have to Stop Now,” which just wrapped its first season in mid-April to rave reviews. The romantic comedy follows two lesbian therapists as they struggle to keep up the pretense of staying together when a documentary film crew invades their home after the success of their book How To Succeed In Marriage Without Even Trying.

Jill co-created the first hit lesbian video blog “We’re Getting Nowhere” for AfterEllen.com, which was nominated as Best Lesbian Vlog Ever for Logo’s NewNowNext Awards. She went solo in late 2008 and is now producing her own video blog “The Violet Underground” for SheWired.com.

Cathy DeBuono

Sweet  Jul 12

cathy debuono large Cathy DeBuono

Cathy DeBuono is a rare actress in Hollywood.

While many actresses remain in the closet, or at least “guarded” about their personal lives, she is not only out and proud, but is actively seeking out lesbian roles.

The daughter of a New York cop, Cathy was a gifted natural athlete and a heavily recruited volleyball player. She attended the University of Kentucky on a full athletic scholarship, and was in training for the US Olympic team when a knee injury ended her career.

While in college, Cathy met Ashley Judd who cast her in a school play and encouraged Cathy to pursue acting – which she did, with gusto. In 1992, She auditioned for a place in the prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. She graduated from AADA in 1994 and headed for Los Angeles where she has been cast in roles on television shows like The Pretender, Jenny, Ex’s and Oh’s, 3Way and Martial Law as well as recurring roles on Chicago Hope and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. She has also been cast in numerous films such as Out at the Wedding, as well as the short film Tremble & Spark, and the hotly anticipated feature film And Then Came Lola, both due out this summer.

A Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Cathy earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University in 2003. She’s parlayed her clinical and professional experience into the video blog What’s YOUR Problem?, which was nominated for LOGO’s 2007 NEW NOW NEXT AWARDS for Best. Lesbian. Vlog. Ever. In the vlog, Cathy addresses concerns submitted by her viewers.

Her most recent project, We Have To Stop Now is a romantic comedy in which Cathy plays a therapist who is in therapy herself.  After a successful first season, season two is now in pre-development.

I am a strong believer in being as knowledgeable about a port as possible before arriving there. Combine that with Sweet’s mission of leaving each port better than when we arrived, it is even more important that we have an understanding of the background and culture of each place we visit.

img 3173 Sweet Sharon Stone!L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center’s Women’s Night is lesbian Hollywood’s most star-studded night. It also raises loads of money for the amazing programs at the L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center.

Sharon Stone—yes, that Sharon Stone—auctioned a Sweet Caribbean Cruise for two. The LAGLC Women’s Night organizers cleverly packaged the Sweet Caribbean Cruise with roundtrip airfare for two, a stay in a New Orleans’ hotel the night before we leave and a dinner at a fab local restaurant. Thanks to the wit and charm of auctioneer Sharon Stone, Sweet’s cruise raised $7,000 for LAGLC’s good works. Wahooo!

Thank you Sharon Stone! That was Sweet.

Also, thank you J.D. and The Smoking Cocktail for the photo.
