Alcatraz Island restoration, San Francisco

Sweet  Nov 23

Can’t make the first Sweet garden restoration project in San Francisco? Here’s your second chance! We have a very limited number of spaces for the Alcatraz Gardens Restoration project, which comes with a free ferry ride to Alcatraz Island! Help re-establish the historic Alcatraz gardens by weeding, pruning and improving the compost area.

Through the project, volunteers will be introduced to the stories of the gardens and have the opportunity to visit some areas not accessible to the public.

The trade is a morning of your hard work on December 27, 2011, from 8:30am to noon. This project happens rain or shine. Please contact Darcie to signup. These spots will go quickly.

Meet at Pier 33 around 8:30am to take the ferry to Alcatraz Island where we’ll work until noon. Of course, they then ferry us back!

We’ll be getting waiver forms for volunteers to sign and bring with them on the day of the project.

Golden Gate Clean-up, San Francisco

Sweet  Nov 22

Alright Sweeties, let’s get dirty! Sweet is working with the GLS, San Francisco’s Gay and Lesbian Sierra Club chapter, to restore the Golden Gate Bridge overlook, Saturday, Dec. 10, 1-4pm.

We are working with Parks Conservancy to plant and restore the Golden Gate Overlook near the Golden Gate Bridge. The site is amazing with great views, blocked from the wind and easily accessible from public transportation.

Please contact Darcie to signup before the spots are gone! This restoration project promises to be picturesque and loads of fun!

(We’ll meet at the Fort Scott Parking Lot at the intersection of Merchant Road and Lincoln Ave near the Golden Gate Bridge.)
