Proud to sail with NCL

Ship Branded 470x319 Proud to sail with NCL

sweet somethings header2 Proud to sail with NCLThere are a number of reasons we chose to partner with Norwegian Cruise Line for our maiden voyage, but chief among them is NCL’s commitment to lessening their environmental impact and their willingness to work with us to provide amazing community service projects in the ports we’re visiting.

Here are some totally awesome things NCL has done to make the world a little greener:
• They recycled 96 tons of cardboard, 909 tons of scrap metal, 206 tons of wood pallets,
364 tons of plastic, 275 cubic meters of cooking oil and 1,813 tons of glass.

• They also managed 253 tons of trash and food waste at a Waste-to-Energy (WTE) facility.

• In doing so, they saved 2,200 mature trees (enough saved timber resources to
produce more than 27.28 million sheets of newspaper), 6.21 million kilowatt hours of electricity from recycling (enough power to fulfill the monthly electricity needs of more than 6,210 homes), 575,000 kilowatt hours of electricity from Waste-to-Energy (enough power to fulfill the monthly electricity needs of more than 575 homes), 9,195 cubic yards of landfill airspace (enough airspace to fulfill the municipal waste disposal needs for 141,000 people for one month) and 2,005 barrels of oil (enough energy to heat and cool more than 5,000 homes for one month).

• NCL also avoided 1,908 Metric Tons (MTCO2E) of GHG (Greenhouse Gas) emissions. That saved 2,300 gallons of gas (enough gasoline to drive more than 64,500 miles).

• NCL conserved 672,000 gallons of water (enough fresh water to meet the daily
fresh water needs of more than 8,960 people).

Yeah, that’s Sweet. And that’s why Conde Nast Traveler magazine recognized NCL with a 2008 World Savers Award.

“Sustaining maritime ecosystems is among NCL’s highest priorities,” Colin
Veitch, NCL’s CEO, told Conde Nast. “The protection of the oceans on which NCL makes its living is of paramount importance to the company and so it is with great pride that we accept this recognition from Conde Nast Traveler for our efforts.”

We’re so pleased to team up with NCL for the largest CarbonFree cruise and the first with community service projects built in. When a company as large as NCL takes steps to be more eco-friendly and minimize its impact, it makes a huge difference. Bravo, NCL. Keep up the great work.

Hi, I am wondering if you ever have booked Anne E. DeChant on any of your trips. If you don’t know her, you may want to check her out at her website or myspace. (anneedechant.com) She is a creative and captivating singer/songwriter. Just a suggestion, but she’s top caliber. We have musical entertainment every weekend, but Anne E. packs our place when she comes to Florida and plays at our wine bar.

Thank you!
