Please tell me who the outfitter will be for this trip. I took a similar trip on the lower Salmon River about 8 years ago and ROW was the outfitter. An exceptional company, they provided us will an all-woman staff. Is there any single’s supplement required for this trip?
Please add me to your e-mail list for this and any future trips.

Hi Martha,

The outfitter we are working with is Middle Fork River Expeditions and the parent company is Eco Family Adventures.

MFRE is an awesome outfitter that does carbon offsets all their river trips through the purchase of Green Tags, which accounts for transportation to/from the river, as well as how much charcoal they burn. They also recycle everything from the trips (glass, plastic, aluminum etc.), including food waste which is fed to pigs at a local farm and/or composted or used in worm bins. They also recently purchased a 120 gallon vegetable oil tank to burn used cooking oil from the Mountain Village Restaurant in Stanley for their Ford F350 Diesel truck used to transport the equipment to/from the river. They also follow Leave No Trace Ethics and purchase all guest households a yearly membership to Idaho Rivers United, a non-profit organization whose focus is Salmon Recovery on the Middle Fork of the Salmon River!

We have asked for female guides and will likely have 1/2 female and 1/2 male guides. All MFRE guides are excellent, very knowledgeable of the area, are excellent cooks, love what they do and to share it with their guests! We don’t think that you will be disappointed at all in the MFRE guides or the experience that Sweet and MFRE have planned for you on the river!

Also, to answer your question about single supplement, Sweet and MFRE are not charging a single supplement for this trip. In this particular case there are no restrictions on the number of tents we can set up at each site. Our only restriction is the number of people which is 24 guests. So you will be in an intimate but fun group while enjoy the Middle Fork of the Salmon…how Sweet!!!

Stay Sweet,

Nicoll

i plan to go next year….. Yes

I grew up a stone’s throw from here. Pretty sure it’s the most beautiful country around. This will be a seriously kick-ass adventure, ladies.

Can you give us some info on where we fly to in Idaho? And then we need to get to Stanley? Any idea of the cost of that flight?

anyone going from Florida ?? e-mail Chris unhurdof@earthlink.net this sounds awesome !!

Any age restrictions? Fitness levels?

Is there any other way to get to Stanley other than renting a car? I’m coming from Calif. and would like to share a rental with several others. That goes for rooming in Stanley as well.

I’d love to explore Boise before I fly home. I just flew to Oregon on Alaska Air and their in-flight magazine had a whole spread on the city. Looks like some interesting places to visit. Maybe check out the night life on Sat 21 and fly home later on the 22nd. Anyone game?

If you’re on FB you can find me, Jill Boulet Murray. Friend me with Raft Buddy in the subject. And I will check back here as well.

Can’t wait!!!! Jillb

Hi Jill,

It is such a great idea to share a ride from Boise. The drive to Stanley is about 2.5 hours depending on how use to driving on curvy roads you are. Once you are in Stanley you will leave the car for the entire trip in a secured parking lot. So it would be great if some of the ladies wanted to share the expense.

The only other way to get to Stanley from Boise is to take a small and rather expensive flight.

I spent a full day in Boise and wish I had had more time. It is such a charming and lively city. However, I would suggest that you over night in Stanley the night of the 21st. We have a long journey back to Stanley from the point in the river where we get back on dry land. In fact we have to take about a 5 hour bus ride back to Stanley and do not get arrive until about 5pm. I highly doubt you will want to get right back into a car.

I am more then happy to send an email to the group regarding your interest in sharing room and ride. So far the ladies we have joining us are so great! It is going to be a fantastic trip.

Stay Sweet!

Flavia
