Sweet Isla Mujeres Resort Excursions

We’re doing a wide variety of community service project. Sweet community service projects are a great way to make friends and experience the island and its people. Our guests love them. Do as much or as little as you like, by traveling with Sweet, you’re contributing to good works while you sip your margarita by the pool. Call or email Julie at 877.793.3830 to reserve your spot.

DONATIONS WELCOME AND MUCH NEEDED > see the list

Spay Neuter Feral Cat Trifecta, $75 per person (for all three)
We’re going out with Lupita, the island’s cat lady to set traps to capture feral cats. On Monday, we’ll collect the cats and deliver them to the clinic where we’ll assist with the spay and neuter project. Finally, the following evening, we’ll head back to release the freshly spayed and neutered cats.
Spay Neuter Feral Cat Trapping, 10:30pm, Sunday
Spay Neuter Feral Cat Clinic, 8:30am, Monday
Spay Neuter Feral Cat Release – 8:30pm, Tuesday

Little Yellow School House, 9:30am, Tuesday, $50 per person
At the request of the school, we’ve purchased a shed to store their outdoor play equipment. We’ll assemble the shed as our project as well as deliver school supplies to the kids. Donations are welcome. We’re trying to cover the $1,000 cost of the shed. Any additional funds will be donated to the school.

Tree Planting and Beach Clean-up, 9:30am, Wednesday, $50 per person
We’ll plant palm trees in order to prevent beach erosion as well as clean up a section of beach. Your donation covers the cost of the palm trees as well as the labor to dispose of the trash we collect. Any additional funds will be donated to the Island’s Environmental Education Center.

Isla Contoy National Park, 8:30am, Thursday, $100 per person
It’s a pristine oasis where we can swim in the crystal clear waters, chill with a friendly stingray, eat a fantastic barbecue lunch and clean up the wild side of the island. Space on this excursion is extremely limited, so book now. It was by far the most popular excursion during our May trip to Isla Mujeres.

We’ll take a boat from our resort to a beautifully preserved ecological reserve where we’ll enjoy the crystal clear blue waters, do a little trash pick up and finish with a fabulous fresh fish fry on the beach before returning to our resort. Includes roundtrip transportation, environmental fees, beverages, lunch and tips.

Isla Contoy, a small uninhabited island 15 miles north of Isla Mujeres, is a bird sanctuary for more then 70 species, including some large nesting colonies and wild frigates. Declared a National wildlife reserve in 1961, there is a small museum and a lookout tower for a spectacular panoramic view. The number of people allowed to visit this island is limited, so book your visit early, so we can plan the number of boats we need. Preview Isla Contoy.

Mundaca Park Run and Clean Up, 10am, Friday, $20 per person
Run through nearby historical park Mundaca, then enjoy a tour and clean up hosted by me. Your fee covers the cost of park entry and a donation to support the island’s recycling efforts.

ISLAND RECYCLING PROJECT
For $100, our friends in the Isla Mujeres Department of the Environment need money to create awesome baskets conveniently located throughout the island. The infrastructure is in place to collect the recyclables, but they desperately need more bins. Donations collected at the Sweet desk. Details.

Sweet accepts cash and credit cards for all their community service volunteers. Cash makes it easier to pay our local vendors. Of course, if you book ahead of time, you make it easy for everyone.

I can’t wait for the excursions to go up! I went on your first cruise and had an amazing time with you all! I’m still moved when I think about the children’s faces at the Belize school where we helped to create a library, towing hundreds of books behind us!
I’m proud to support Sweet and am happy knowing I am a tiny part of making things better than when we first arrived.

See you in September!

P.S.

I’d love to visit Isla Contoy if you’re looking for suggestions. :)

Yes, we’re going to Isla Contoy again!

Any hints on excursions?
