A better question is “how can it not be?” Polar bears are drowning. Sweet doesn’t want any part of that.
That’s why Sweet is working in partnership with the CarbonFund.org to offset all the carbon from our office and travel operations. We’ve calculated our guests’ air travel, our own air travel, our office resource usage, the fuel our ship burns and many other things to figure out our footprint. Next, we chose a clean energy project and bought carbon credits for the amount of carbon we’re creating.
The clean air project we chose helps reforest a large area of the Tensas River in Louisiana that was strip farmed for cotton. Not only are we planting carbon sucking trees, we’re also providing vital habitat for wildlife and helping to prevent the further erosion of the Tensas River. My favorite part of this project is that we’re removing the carbon so near the where we’re leaving it. That’s totally sweet. Learn more about the project.
Our commitment to leaving the world better than we found it doesn’t end there. We’re doing even more to minimize our impact on the world we love exploring. On our Sweet Caribbean Cruise, we’re doing six cool projects in the ports we’re visiting and one in New Orleans before we set sail.
Our projects are different than anything you’ve ever done. Our projects are celebrations of life and connection, our connection to one another and to the larger world community. We’ll clean up beaches while playing games. We’ll paint the children’s ward of a hospital while Sweet artists serenade us. We’ll transform the way the world thinks about volunteering because if it’s more fun, more people will do it. And if more people participate in the solution, we can solve really big problems while having the time of our lives.
On the homefront, we’re supporting tons of wonderful organizations, like the National Center for Lesbian Rights, the Human Rights Campaign, Mautner Project and many more.
It’s easier than you can possibly imagine to offset your carbon footprint. Visit CarbonFund.org today and find out how.
