Storytime2 Books, books, baby

“Words alone just don’t seem to convey my heartfelt thanks for the social contributions your visit will provide to deserving Belizean children. I am personally honored to be a part of this process and truly hope it is the beginning of a new tourism trend in Belize.”
— Denise Ockey, Calypso Train Tours, from a recent letter to Sweet

Dear Sweeties,
Your generosity exceeds the volume of your backpacks. That’s so sweet!

We’ve had so many inquiries about sending more books than you can carry. The amazing woman we work with in Belize City, Denise Ockey, found a way for us ship the books to ensure they reach the children. Thank you, Denise.

SEND BOOKS
You may send as many English-language children’s books (school supplies and other educational materials) as you like to:

Fabrigas Belize Limited
Attn: Andree King, Hand Wash Hand
2 3/4 Miles, Western Highway
Belize City, Belize

Send your books air freight, sea freight or parcel post. It’s going to run you about $3 a pound plus handling fees.

A SWEET DONATION
When I visited last April, the principal told me how difficult it was to get the kids learning materials. Her budget does not cover supplies. Each month, she borrows against her own small paycheck to cover the cost of toner. They use that toner cartridge until the kids can barely see the ink on the paper.

Guest Erin Cottom contacted me about taking the giving a step further. I shared this story with her and she decided to donate a copier. “I believe in paying it forward in life in whatever capacity one is capable of doing so,” Erin said.

Recently, Erin relocated to Los Angeles where she’s a founding partner of The Cottom/Shakkottai Investment Group. She advises families with high-level assets all over the country. The all-female investment group provides financial solutions to three types of clients: gays and lesbians, women and entrepreneurs. The extensive knowledge required to advise these investors comes from the team’s combined 25 years of experience and dedication to understanding their unique needs, coupled with an unwavering commitment to service.

Erin’s wonderfully generous gift ensures these kids get the opportunity to learn that they deserve. Way to step up, Erin!

I know I keep saying this, but the people you meet on this cruise are going to blow your mind. You guys totally rock! I’m so proud to be setting sail with you in three short weeks.

This cruise was an amazing event and I was so honored to be part of it. I met so many incredible people on this cruise!

Does the copier require toner or ink cartridges? If so, can they be sent as well and what kind does it take?
